A room-by-room order of work that stops you circling the same cupboard three times, plus the two jobs most people skip and later regret.
The reason a spring clean sprawls into a month is almost always order of work. Start high and dry, finish low and wet: cobwebs and light fittings first, then surfaces, then soft furnishings, then floors. Doing it the other way round means cleaning the same floor twice.
Give yourself two hours per reception room and three for a kitchen, and clear the surfaces completely before you touch a cloth. Decluttering and cleaning at the same time is what makes the job feel endless, because every object becomes a decision.
The two jobs people skip: behind and beneath the fridge, and the inside of the washing machine drawer. Both are quick, both are the reason a spotless kitchen still smells faintly wrong a week later.
